Meet the members of the
Vienna Waltz Ensemble:
Greg Sarchet, Clara Lindner and Carl Johnston.
Greg Sarchet
Plays a double bass attributed to Claude Pierray, Paris, dating from the 18th Century
Double bassist Greg Sarchet has had an array of musical experiences and training, from studying with his first teacher, jazz luminary Rufus Reid, to receiving his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from New York's Juilliard School, to hundreds of television/radio commercial recordings.

In addition to the Vienna Waltz Ensemble, Greg is currently a performing member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Opera Theater, Chicago Chamber Orchestra, and has also performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera of New York. He is also presently on the faculty at Chicago's Columbia College, Northeastern Illinois University and has a limited private teaching studio.
Clara Lindner
Plays a Vincenzo Sannino violin, Naples, circa 1910
Violinist Clara Lindner studied at the University of Southern California and Northwestern University. From festivals to orchestras, Clara and her sparkling violin have performed across the United States. She currently performs with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Joffrey Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre, the Ravinia Festival Orchestra, the Chicago Opera Theatre and is a founding member of the Vienna Waltz Ensemble.
She has appeared in the Aspen Music Festival, the Teton Music Festival and the Ojai Music Festival. Clara has performed at Carnegie Hall with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Minnesota Orchestra. Her teachers have included Eudice Shapiro and Kato Havas.
Clara teaches privately through her own Studio Allegro, and is also on the faculty at Chicago's Columbia College.
Carl Johnston

Violinist Carl Johnston is a veteran Chicago performer and educator, having taught privately for the past 20 years at DePaul University, American Conservatory of Music, and currently at his home studio and at VanderCook College. His performance experiences range from Associate Concertmaster of the Chicago Chamber Orchestra and member of the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, to performing in the Chicago Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, and Ravinia Festival Orchestras. European and Asian solo appearances lend rich perspective to his chamber and string ensemble coachings. Mr. Johnston received his BM and MM from the renowned Chicago Musical College.
